I received a call from Randy Kroese on Sunday evening June 22. Randy was having a get together with friends Bob included and asked if I had a guide available
for Tuesday and Wednesday. Randy said he can’t play golf so he might as well fish. Randy took a spill on a bike and broke his collar bone and two ribs. Ouch!
It so happened I was able to take them fishing, it had been awhile since I had a fish in my boat with teeth, I was looking forward to it.
We started in Saginaw Bay and it was pretty hot. We trolled crawler harness along and emerging cabbage bed and pounded the walleyes pretty good in 10-12 feet of water on the first day. The next day john Dougherty joined us. We went back to Saginaw and the walleyes vacated the area they were in the day before even though the wind was identical to the day before. We traveled down the shoreline looking at my Humminbird and saw baitfish and clutter along the wall. We started working the area and caught a few on jigs and minnows and some on a chrome purple “Vikings” crawler harness.
We left Saginaw and went to the current fishing jigs and minnows and Lindy Rigs and minnows in 32 feet of water. We also fished a break line in the current. Fishing was really good, nice keepers and many 23-25 inch walleyes.
